Soul Step Records are lucky enough to collaborate again with the incomparable Katie Schecter on her latest LP, “Empress.”

It’s hard to pin down who Katie Schecter sounds like. Born in NYC, it feels as though Katie Schecter time traveled to our present day from a more sonically cool yesteryear of the future.

She effortlessly blends the half-cool, half-kitsch of her home here in Nashville, TN that is neither new nor timeless.

Deeply soulful and introspective runway indie rock that drips with vibes await the listener when you drop the needle on this LP. Produced with love and care by Cage The Elephant’s Nick Bockrath with an incredible set of musicians. (Homer Steinweiss, Nick Movshon, Russ Pahl, Leon Michels, and more!) This LP is one that continues to reveal more of itself the more you spin it.

Soul Step Records will be releasing the LP “Empress” by Katie Schecter for Pre-Order on Monday, September 8.

Vinyl is expected to ship on or around the full release date of the LP, October 17th, 2025.
