We remember the email very well. Someone from our home of Southwest Virginia sent an email saying we had to check out this gal called Amythyst Kiah. 

You never really know what you'll get when you uncover someone you've never heard of. About 20 seconds into the first track we heard, the scramble began to track down Amythyst Kiah and get her music on Soul Step Records.
